My Crazy Rich Asian Wedding

Table of contents

A lot of friends and family have joked that our wedding reminded them of the “Crazy Rich Asians” movie, so we decided to roll with it. We were really blessed to be surrounded by all of our loved ones on our special day, and we couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day. Enjoy this behind-the-scenes look at our 2023 wedding!

Key Takeaways

  • Our wedding was a blend of our cultures.
  • We wanted everyone at the wedding to have a good time.
  • We spent our honeymoon in Turkey and Morocco.
  • We’re sincerely grateful for all the kind messages and support we’ve received.

Blending Our Cultures

My wife and I grew up in blended cultures, so it was important for us to represent our identities and families during our wedding ceremony. Our guests enjoyed an 8-course traditional meal with some of our favorite Chinese and Filipino dishes. (Ask Preston what he thought about the Fish Lips Soup haha)

Watch Our Wedding Video

My wife and I were both completely blown away by the production company that put together our wedding video. They shot all the footage and edited it all on the same day! I still have no idea how they accomplished that, but you can watch it below!

A Honeymoon Recap

Right before our wedding in February of 2023, Turkey was devastated by a series of earthquakes. My wife and I went back and forth about rescheduling our honeymoon, but friends in the area reassured us that it was safe, and we wanted to support the locals. We ended up spending the first half of our honeymoon exploring cave towns and museums. It was technically the “off season,” so the weather was a lot colder than usual, but there were less tourists which made our trip more enjoyable. By the way, what they say about Turkish coffee is true. It was delicious, but it’s also VERY strong.

Here’s a photo of us riding in a hot air balloon. (Fun fact: They filmed part of the Star Wars movies here because the terrain is so unique it almost looks like it’s “out of this world.”)

We spent the rest of our honeymoon exploring Morocco and it was really nice stepping away from my emails. Like most loan officers, I consider myself a reformed workaholic haha. It’s something I’ve had to be really intentional about over the past few years and it’s been huge for my relationships with family and friends. We all need to disconnect from social media and our phones sometimes.

Thank You for All the Support

I got hundreds of messages congratulating us on our marriage and although I didn’t have the time to respond to each one, I want to make sure you know how much I appreciate it. As we enter this new phase of our life together, we are especially grateful for friends, family, and life!
